DOW CORNING 200 Fluid ( Poly Dimethyl Siloxane Fluid - Virgin)

Water-clear silicone fluid available in viscosities ranging from 0.65 to 60,000 cst (mm²/s)
Little change in physical properties over a wide temperature span - a relatively flat viscosity-temperature slope, and serviceability from -40°C up to 200°C
Excellent water repellency
Good dielectic properties over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies
Low surface tension - readily wets clean surfaces to impart water repellency and release characteristics
Viscosities above 10 mm²/s also exhibit heat stability, oxidation resistance, very low vapour pressures, and high flash point
Low order of toxicity
Essentially odourless
Soluble in a wide range of solvents
Non-greasy and non-rancidifying

Potydimethylsiloxane

Applications

Release Material: Used alone or as part of a compounded formula, DOW Corning 200 Fluid provides a non-carbonising mould release for rubber, plastics, and metal die castings.
Foam Preventative: Extremely small amounts of the fluid effectively control foam in many processing operations, especially in non-aqueous systems.
Mechanical Fluid: Excellent viscosity-temperature characteristics, thermal and chemical stability, shear-breakdown resistance, compressibility, and rubber compatibility make DOW Corning 200 Fluid outstanding for mechanical/ hydraulic uses. Typical uses include hydrolic stabilisers, damping media.
Surface-Active Material: Added to vinyl plastisols,
DOW Corning 200 Fluid improves the flow characteristics, de-aerates and lubricates me surface of the completed part.
Lubricant: The fluid provides excellent lubrication for most plastic and elastomeric surfaces. Lubricity with metals depends upon the combination involved. Care should be taken to select suitable metals for pumps and other items with moving parts.

TYPICAL PROPERTIES

Specification writers: These values are not intended for use in preparing specifications. Please contact your local Dow Corning sales representative prior ig writing specifications on this product.

HOW TO USE

DOW CORNING 1107 Fluid Is usually applied from dilute solution. Solutions are prepared by diluting DOW CORNING 1107 Fluid with hydrocarbon solvents, acetone or methyl ethyl ketone (see Handling Precautions), and stirring the mixture gently until uniform. The extent of dilution wili depend on the surface to be treated and surface properties desired.

Curing

Coatings of DOW CORNING 1107 Fluid are usually heat cured to develop release properties or water repellency. Curing temperatures range from 120°C to 175°C. Curing times are much shorter al higher curing temperatures.
Catalysts are often used to accelerate cure. Foursuiiable catalysts in order of Increasing activity include zinc octoate (22% zinc), iron octoate (6% iron), dibutyl tin dilaurate, and tin octoates (28% tin). A typical catalyst concentration is one part catalyst, as supplied, to 10 parts of DOW CORNING 1107 Fluid. Concentrations of the more active catalyst must not be increased to the

Description

Dow Corning® Z-6940 Silane is a mixture of polysulfidosilane species with an average sulfur chain length of 3.75. It is a 100% actives product in a liquid form.

How to Use

As with any organofunctional alkoxysilane coupling agent, Dow Canting Z-6940 Silane can be applied as a primer or incorporated in-situ in a compound formulation.

As a primer of a surface, the silane can be dispersed in ethanol at about 1% and wiped onto a substrate.

As an in-situ treatment, the silane is typically added with the organic matrix and inorganic filler/reinforcement. In the case of black rubber, oil silane is added with the rubber, oil and silica in the first mix. The ethoxysilyl groups then react to the surface of the inorganic material during this mix. It is typical to drive the temperature of the mixture to over 150°C to get adequate reaction of the silane to the
filler.
